Adlyxin is a prescription medication used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that increases insulin release in response to high blood sugar levels, decreases the amount of sugar made by the liver, and slows the absorption of food in the stomach.

How is this medication used?

Adlyxin is administered as an injection under the skin (subcutaneously). The starting dose is typically 10 micrograms once daily for 14 days, followed by 20 micrograms once daily. It should be injected at the same time each day, and can be taken with or without food. Follow your healthcare provider's instructions carefully and do not change your dosing schedule without consulting them.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may also occur, especially if taken with another diabetes medication that can cause hypoglycemia. Less common but more serious side effects can include pancreatitis, kidney problems, and severe gastrointestinal problems.

What are the potential interactions?

Adlyxin may interact with other medications, such as insulin or sulfonylureas, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia. It may also affect the absorption of other oral medications due to its action on gastric emptying. Always inform your healthcare provider about all the medications, supplements, and herbs you are taking to prevent potential interactions.
