Aristocort R Ointment

How is this medication used?

Apply a thin layer of Aristocort R Ointment to the affected area of the skin as directed by your doctor. It is usually applied two to four times daily. Do not use it for longer than prescribed. Do not cover the treated area with a bandage unless your doctor tells you to.

What are the possible side effects?

Possible side effects include burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, and miliaria. If you experience any severe or persistent side effects, contact your doctor.

What are the potential interactions?

Before using Aristocort R Ointment, inform your doctor about all the products you use (including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal products) to avoid interactions. Avoid using other topical medications on the treated area unless directed by your doctor. Do not receive any vaccinations without the consent of your doctor while using this medication.
