Dovonex Ointment

How is this medication used?

Apply a thin layer of the ointment to the affected area(s) once or twice daily, or as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The area treated should not be covered or wrapped unless directed by a doctor. Do not apply on the face, scalp, or eyes. Wash your hands thoroughly after application.

What are the possible side effects?

Possible side effects include skin irritation, rash, worsening of psoriasis, dry skin, burning, itching, and redness at the application site. Severe side effects could involve excessive calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia) if used over large areas of the body or for an extended period.

What are the potential interactions?

Dovonex may interact with supplements or medications that increase calcium levels in the blood. Inform your healthcare provider about all prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and supplements you are taking before starting Dovonex.
