How is this medication used?

In the event of a severe allergic reaction, remove the Epipen Jr. from its protective container, then remove the blue safety cap. Hold the pen with the orange tip pointing downward, forming a fist around the pen without touching the orange tip. Press the orange tip firmly into the mid-outer thigh until it clicks, indicating the injection has commenced. Hold in place for 3 seconds, then remove the pen and massage the injection area for 10 seconds. Seek emergency medical attention immediately after administration.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat, sweating, nausea and vomiting, difficulty breathing, paleness, dizziness, weakness, tremors, headache, and anxiety. Severe side effects can include high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and death.

What are the potential interactions?

Epipen Jr. may interact with antidepressants, heart or blood pressure medications, allergy medications, and asthma meds. Beta-blockers and certain antidepressants can increase the severity of side effects or decrease the effectiveness of Epipen Jr. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements your child is taking before using Epipen Jr.
