How is this medication used?

Take the prescribed extended-release capsule by mouth once daily, with or without food, swallowing it whole without crushing or chewing. Your doctor will usually start with a low dose and increase it gradually. Do not stop suddenly, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include nausea, constipation, sweating, increased heart rate, palpitations, erectile dysfunction, and vomiting. It may also raise blood pressure and heart rate, which your doctor may monitor. Contact your doctor if you experience worsening mood or unusual changes in behavior.

What are the potential interactions?

Do not use Fetzima with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping one. Combining it with other serotonergic drugs such as triptans, tramadol, or St. John's Wort can cause serotonin syndrome. NSAIDs, aspirin, and blood thinners may increase bleeding risk. Tell your doctor about all medications you take.
