Kesimpta (ofatumumab) is a self-injectable monoclonal antibody used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis in adults. It works by targeting CD20-positive B cells, immune cells involved in the nerve damage seen in MS, reducing relapses and slowing disability progression.

How is this medication used?

Inject 20mg under the skin using the prefilled pen once weekly for the first three weeks, skip week four, then inject once monthly starting at week five. Rotate injection sites (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm) and follow your doctor's training on proper technique.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include upper respiratory tract infections, headache, injection-related reactions (fever, chills, fatigue), and injection site reactions such as redness or itching. Because it affects the immune system, it may increase the risk of infections, including reactivation of hepatitis B.

What are the potential interactions?

Kesimpta may interact with other immunosuppressive or immune-modulating therapies, increasing infection risk. Live vaccines should not be given during treatment and for some time after stopping. Tell your doctor about all medications you take and your vaccination history.
