Lovenox Hp
Lovenox HP (enoxaparin high potency) is a concentrated form of the low molecular weight heparin enoxaparin, an injectable blood thinner. It is used to treat and prevent deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, and in the management of certain heart conditions such as unstable angina.
How is this medication used?
Inject the prescribed dose under the skin of the abdomen, usually once or twice daily, alternating sides with each injection. Do not rub the injection site afterward. Your doctor will determine the dose based on your weight and condition; do not stop without medical advice.
What are the possible side effects?
Common side effects include bleeding, bruising, pain or irritation at the injection site, and anemia. Serious bleeding, low platelet counts, and spinal bleeding in patients undergoing spinal procedures are rare but important risks. Report unusual bleeding or bruising to your doctor.
What are the potential interactions?
Other blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs (aspirin, clopidogrel), and NSAIDs increase the risk of bleeding when combined with Lovenox HP. Tell your doctor about all medications and supplements you take, especially before any surgery or dental procedure.
