How is this medication used?

Inject the prescribed dose under the skin once daily, preferably in the evening, rotating injection sites between the thighs, abdomen, buttocks, or upper arms. Your doctor will set the dose based on weight and response, and will train you on using the pen. Store the pen as directed on the label.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include injection site reactions, headache, swelling of the hands and feet, muscle and joint pain, and numbness or tingling. Growth hormone can affect blood sugar levels, and children may rarely experience hip or knee problems that should be reported promptly.

What are the potential interactions?

Somatropin may interact with corticosteroids, insulin and oral diabetes medications, thyroid hormones, and estrogen-containing products, sometimes requiring dose adjustments. Tell your doctor about all medications you take.
