Orthovisc is injected directly into the knee joint by a healthcare professional, typically as a series of three to four weekly injections. Avoid strenuous or prolonged weight-bearing activities for about 48 hours after each injection.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include temporary pain, swelling, warmth, or stiffness at the injection site, which usually resolve within a few days. Joint infection or significant inflammatory reactions are rare.

What are the potential interactions?

There are no known significant drug interactions with Orthovisc since it is administered directly into the joint. Tell your healthcare provider about all medications you take and any allergies, particularly to bird proteins, feathers, or egg products.
