Ryaltris is a nasal spray combining olopatadine (an antihistamine) and mometasone (a corticosteroid) used to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, and congestion. The combination relieves both the allergic reaction and the underlying nasal inflammation.

How is this medication used?

Spray the prescribed number of sprays (usually two) into each nostril twice daily, morning and evening. Shake the bottle gently before use and prime it before first use or after long periods of non-use. Avoid spraying directly onto the nasal septum.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include an unpleasant or bitter taste, nosebleeds, nasal discomfort or dryness, and headache. Rarely, nasal septum irritation or, with long-term steroid use, effects on the eyes may occur.

What are the potential interactions?

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole and ritonavir may increase absorption of the corticosteroid component. Using it with other antihistamines or corticosteroids may increase side effects. Tell your doctor about all medications you use.
