How is this medication used?

Inject once weekly under the skin of the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm on the same day each week, with or without meals. Treatment starts at 0.25mg weekly for four weeks, then increases to 0.5mg weekly using the same pen. Rotate injection sites and follow your doctor's dosing schedule.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and reduced appetite, especially when starting or increasing the dose. Rare but serious risks include pancreatitis and gallbladder problems; a boxed warning notes thyroid C-cell tumors observed in animal studies.

What are the potential interactions?

Semaglutide may increase the risk of low blood sugar when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Because it slows stomach emptying, it may affect absorption of some oral medications. Tell your doctor about all medications you take.
