How is this medication used?

Inject 1mg once weekly under the skin of the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, on the same day each week, with or without meals. This dose is reached after starting at 0.25mg and titrating up through 0.5mg as directed by your doctor. Rotate injection sites with each dose.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and decreased appetite. Rare but serious risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and worsening diabetic retinopathy; a boxed warning notes thyroid C-cell tumors seen in animal studies.

What are the potential interactions?

Combining semaglutide with insulin or sulfonylureas increases the risk of low blood sugar, and doses of those medications may need adjustment. Slowed stomach emptying can alter the absorption of some oral medications. Tell your doctor about all medications you take.
