How is this medication used?

Take one tablet by mouth once daily on an empty stomach when you first wake up, with no more than 4 ounces (120 mL) of plain water. Wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other oral medications. Swallow the tablet whole; do not split, crush, or chew.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting, and constipation, particularly when starting or increasing the dose. Rare but serious risks include pancreatitis; a boxed warning notes thyroid C-cell tumors observed in animal studies.

What are the potential interactions?

Oral semaglutide can affect the absorption of other oral medications, especially levothyroxine, so timing matters. Combined use with insulin or sulfonylureas increases the risk of low blood sugar. Tell your doctor about all medications you take.
