How is this medication used?

Take one double-strength tablet by mouth, usually twice daily, with a full glass of water, with or without food. Maintain good fluid intake throughout treatment and finish the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve early.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and rash. Rare but serious reactions include severe skin reactions (such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome), blood disorders, and high potassium; stop the drug and seek medical care for any severe rash or unusual symptoms.

What are the potential interactions?

Significant interactions include warfarin (increased bleeding), methotrexate (increased toxicity), ACE inhibitors and ARBs (high potassium), phenytoin, and sulfonylurea diabetes medications (low blood sugar). Tell your doctor about all medications you take.
