Tobrex Eye Drops

How is this medication used?

Use Tobrex eye drops exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Typically, the drops are applied to the affected eye(s) every 4 hours, but dosing may vary depending on the severity of the infection. Do not wear contact lenses while using Tobrex unless your doctor has advised it. To apply, wash your hands first, tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket, and place a drop into this pocket. Then close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes.

What are the possible side effects?

Possible side effects of Tobrex eye drops include temporary eye irritation, itching, redness, or swelling at the application site. More serious side effects can occur but are rare. These include vision changes, persistent eye redness or pain, and white patches on your eyes. If you notice any severe side effects, contact your doctor immediately.

What are the potential interactions?

Before using Tobrex eye drops, inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs, prescription medications, and herbal products. Some medications may interact with Tobramycin, affecting its effectiveness or causing serious side effects. Also, avoid using other eye medications unless your doctor tells you to.
