How is this medication used?

Zonegran should be taken orally with or without food, usually once or twice a day as directed by your healthcare provider. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Serious side effects can include memory problems, mood changes, signs of kidney stones (such as painful urination, pink/bloody urine, back/side pain), or signs of metabolic acidosis (such as irregular heartbeat, mood changes, headache, tiredness).

Zonegran can interact with other medications, potentially increasing side effects or decreasing effectiveness. Important interactions include other antiepileptic drugs, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, and drugs that can cause drowsiness (such as alcohol, antihistamines, drugs for sleep or anxiety).
